Ch. 1 - Welcome to the Adventures of Rosie and Rinni

For Rinni, it all started one typically dreary Pacific Northwest November evening. The sound of her phone ringing was a welcome change to the dull pitter patter of the constant grayness. Her sister Rosie, calling from the east coast, was already mid pitch as she answered the phone, “Rinni, I’m thinking I should buy a recreational vehicle of some sort and you should come with me and travel somewhere round America for an undetermined amount of time. Yes?”

With the sun setting too soon and the hundreds of miles between the two sisters the only logical response was…

So they put in their respective notices at their respective lonely* apartments on their respective coasts and met in the middle (aka home base, Mom and Dad’s house, Dallas Texas).

*Overly dramatic artistic license in use. Both Rosie and Rinni would like to note that they left behind wonderful communities and friends, whom they love.

From their new central location, there were plenty of unanswered question to sift through. Was the perfect rig a fixer upper fifth wheel pulled by a Ford F- 150, 250, 350... or a Class A, B, C motorhome diesel pusher, gas engine… How many feet was too big too drive? Too small to live? … Should they drive towards the east or drive towards the west? How many bowls does a sane person pack into an RV? Will the dog have fun? Should they bring a toad? Somehow, decisions were made and a route was mapped.

Fueled by optimism and Oreos, Rosie and Rinni planned to start the adventure with a trip to the UP Michigan in time for a family wedding a mere week away. Their classic road trip route would take them out of Texas to the ever popular vacationing destination of the Midwest! From there they planned to swing east, nip up to Maine for a lobster dinner, and back down south by winter holidays. Easiest thing in the world they thought. Can’t be much to this RVing thing they laughed. Hardest part is deciding to go, right? Right?

Despite not knowing a thing about RVs, they are hitting the road and implore you to come along for the ride. After all, as the sisters always say, “It’ll either be a good time or a good story!”
